Pebble salt cellar, grey
Matte stone-like body, loose lid you lift with one finger.
Salt cellars, sugar jars, spice pots and garlic keepers, thrown and fired by small workshops. Unglazed clay breathes, so your salt stays dry and your garlic keeps longer.
Each piece is chosen for one thing: salt, sugar, pepper, a head of garlic. Prices include VAT.

Matte stone-like body, loose lid you lift with one finger.

Terracotta for salt, black for pepper. Sold as a pair.

Hand-pressed burlap texture, brass spoon included.

Dimpled cap lid with a leaf knob. Holds about 250 g of flaky salt.

Loop-handle lid, 600 ml. Choose black, bronze, sand or blue.

Rough-fired finish, good for coffee beans or coarse sugar.

Same shape, unglazed red clay. Fits a standard sugar spoon.

Milk-fired dark clay with hand-carved lettering. Pair.

Wide mouth for a scoop, stepped lid. Sugar, flour, rice.

Smooth terracotta, white slip pattern. 350 ml each.

Low and open for pinching, with a lid for the shelf.

Sculpted flowers, painted by hand. Large and small.
We work with three clay bodies. Which one we pick depends on what the pot is for.
Porous and slightly cool to the touch. Pulls moisture out of salt and lets garlic breathe. Also used for our sprouting dishes.
Fired twice, the second time after a dip in milk. The surface closes up and turns deep brown, with no glaze needed.
High-fired and sealed with lead-free glaze. Wipes clean, holds colour, safe for the dishwasher.

Garlic and onions sprout when they sit in light and sweat in plastic. A pierced clay keeper does what a root cellar did: it blocks light, lets air move through, and the clay wall takes up any damp.
Ours are carved with leaf and flower cut-outs by hand, so the pattern of holes is never quite the same twice. The lid lifts with a central knob and sits loosely, which is the point.
See keepersUnglazed clay absorbs stray humidity, so flaky salt stays pinchable instead of clumping.
Pierced keepers move air around garlic and onions, slowing mould and sprouting.
Spices lose aroma in light. Opaque clay keeps paprika red and cumin sharp for longer.
Lids lift with one finger. Mouths fit a teaspoon. Made to be used, not displayed.
Every keeper and spice pot goes through the same hands — thrown, carved while leather-hard, dried for a week, then fired overnight. We photograph what comes out of the kiln and list it the same week.
Read our storyA few combinations we're asked for often. Each set ships in one box with a card describing the clay and care.

In 2019 we bought a pretty glazed salt pot at a market in Modra. It looked right and worked badly: the glaze sealed the clay, and within a week the salt was a brick. We went back and asked the potter why. That conversation turned into a weekend hobby, then a small stall, then this shop.
Today we work with six workshops in Slovakia, Ukraine and Portugal. We don't own a kiln ourselves anymore — we spend our time testing pots in our own kitchen and writing honest descriptions of what each one does well.
"If a pot needs a label to tell you what it's for, the shape is wrong."

Rinse in warm water without soap and let dry overnight. Terracotta will darken slightly where it's wet; that's normal.
Wipe with a dry cloth. Salt cellars rarely need washing. If you do, use water only — unglazed clay holds onto detergent smell.
Empty and air out once a month. If a keeper picks up an onion smell, a paste of baking soda and water, rinsed off, clears it.
Any order can be wrapped in kraft paper with a handwritten card. Add a note at checkout — we write it out ourselves.

Clay, water, fire. No plastic liners, no coatings. Packaging is paper and cardboard, and we reuse boxes our suppliers send us.
Read moreThe pebble cellar sits next to the hob and the salt hasn't clumped once since February. Lid is heavier than it looks, which I like.
Bought the garlic keeper mostly for the carving, kept it because the garlic actually lasts. Shipping to Vienna took four days.
Sack pots are smaller than I pictured — about a teacup — but that's the right size for spices you use often. The brass spoons are a nice touch.
Anything else — write to us at contact@Tirgusio.shop or use the form below.
Yes. Our terracotta is fired above 1000 °C and contains no added pigments or sealants. It's the same clay used for traditional bread and bean pots.
Salt can leave a faint white bloom on the outside of unglazed pots after a year or two. It wipes off with a damp cloth and doesn't weaken the pot. Glazed stoneware doesn't show it at all.
Glazed stoneware canisters — yes. Unglazed terracotta and milk-fired pieces — please don't; they absorb detergent. A rinse in warm water is all they need.
Slovakia 1–3 working days, Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary 2–4, rest of the EU 3–7. We ship with Packeta and GLS and email tracking the day it leaves.
Send us a photo within 7 days and we'll ship a replacement or refund you, whichever you prefer. You don't need to send the broken piece back.
A little, especially on speckled glazes and milk-fired clay — the kiln decides the final shade. The shape and size are consistent.

If a pot isn't right for your kitchen, return it within 30 days of delivery. It should be unused and in its original packaging. Items that have held salt, oil or spices can't be resold and aren't eligible, unless they're faulty.
We refund to your original payment method within 5 working days of receiving the return. Your bank may take a further 3–5 days to show it. Original shipping costs are refunded for faulty items; for change-of-mind returns we refund the item price only.
Slovakia: free with our label. Other countries: you cover return postage, except for faulty or wrongly sent items, where we reimburse it.
If a piece has a crack, a lid that doesn't fit, or a defect that wasn't visible in the photos, we'll replace it or refund in full, including shipping. Variations in colour and surface texture that come from hand-making aren't defects.
We don't run a formal exchange process — the quickest route is to return the item for a refund and place a new order. If you'd prefer, email us and we can arrange it manually.
